Treacy’s Thriller

Philip Treacy has returned to London Fashion Week this year and not just with any show, but a thrilling one dedicated to Michael Jackson’s genius outfits. Treacy has been a close friend of the late Alexander McQueen and since McQueen has definitely been inspired by MJ as well I could see something like this coming! The hats and headpieces were showed with – as said – the actual stage costumes wore by MJ and designed by his longtime costume designers Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins.
The show was started off by Lady Gaga showing off one of the designs, after which the all-black models such as Alek Wek walked down the runway in glitter gloves, iron masks, golden feathers and a full face smiley mask. It must have been one of the most extravagant and interesting shows of the week! I wish I could’ve been there! MJ has always been a major fashion icon for me and it’s so great to see that even designers who already have made name in the industry can still gain and re-use so much inspiration and creativity from him.
