Monki FTW!

Monki is a store concept and women’s clothing brand and officially one of my favourites EVER! A year ago they opened a store in the centre of Amsterdam, and ever since I entered it for the first time I have this crazy urge to go there as much as I can. Their collections are amazing, and you just can’t leave it without having to buy just a little something. (Or just to enjoy the fabulous dressing rooms full of mirrors and other crazy three-dimensional stuff.) Monki is more than just the regular store around the corner, and is not found in many cities yet.
On their website you can find the latest collections, style sets such as underneath, photoshoots from their ad campaigns and the latest goodie; Monki TV which is being presented by girls like Susie Bubble, Indigo Clark and Mademoiselle Robot, who bring you their fashion stories. Only thing I’m missing is an online shop for the lazy Sunday shopping moods, but on the other hand…Monki wouldn’t be Monki without their signature magical stores!
The illustrations for Monki are made by Ellen Berggren and tell the story of the Monki World: “Once upon a time, an unexpected chemical reaction in an old weavery released a batch of plump black Monkis into the sky. Soaring high from the still-smouldering chimney, the tiny creatures floated into the illusory universe known as the Monki World. The Monki World is a story about a parallel universe inhabited by little black creatures with dual personas, born in the derelict City of Oil and Steel. Monkis are cute and friendly, but also evil and deceptive. Their world is made up of places as surprising and ambiguous as themselves; part magical and part ghastly; stunning beauty alongside revolting ugliness. Their story is a wild hotchpotch of wondrous adventures among leeches, butterfly choirs, turbine flowers, bow trees and mysterious chemicals.”
A few months ago they also launched a quarterly magazine full of more Monki awesomeness such as interviews, style sets, editorials and tips. The good thing is that you can actually get this magazine in your mail FOR FREE! Yes, for free! So far there have been 4 issues out and they deliver them to a whole bunch of countries in Europe.
