7 Things I Love This Summer

So, we’re halfway through summer already and I nearly forgot a ’7 Things I Love’ special! Even though the past few weeks haven’t really been the best in terms of the weather it still gave me a bunch of new interests and obsessions. Turns out even the wet kind of summer nights – and I’m not talking about a jump in the pool after midnight – can be quite the inspirational type. Hope you’re all enjoying your summers in the warmer places of this earth!
1. Fringed Clothes
This trend started in the early 90′s for me personally, when the whole family would travel to Spain for a few weeks with the caravan. Throughout the small streets of a little city called Rosas, tourist shops sold fringed neon t-shirts with dolphin prints on it for children to wear over their swimsuits when the sun got too heavy. As of that time fringed clothes have become the number one link with summer for me and I praise the fashion industry for bringing it back this year.
2. Aquaparks
Wave pools, huge slides, fake rocks, inflatable tires and fountains. This is the image of a true summer to me, I mean, who doesn’t love a day at a fun big aquapark? So much joy and excitement even if you’re not a kid anymore. The blueness of the pools and the design of these aquaparks are even a great place for relaxation, so make sure to find out where the nearest park can be found when you’re going on a holiday. They have always been one of the highlights in mine. Tip: don’t wear a loose and brand-new bikini ’cause you’ll not have much of it left at the end of the day!
3. Adam Lambert
Before I listened to Adam’s newest album ‘Trespassing’ I’d never really expect myself to find him in my list of top artists, but surprisingly this has happened! ‘Trespassing’ is one of those all hit no skip type of albums that you can play for months and still not get tired of. And ehm, ever noticed what a sexy beast this Mr. Lambert actually is? (Yeah, I surely have a gay crush problem!) If you haven’t given him a chance yet, be sure to do so.
4. Running
Before this summer, I would’ve laughed if you told me this would be in my list of things I love. Running has never really been my thing. Maybe it’s just the load of sports events taking place this summer that got me into this vibe, but I’m running every two days now and it makes me feel so good. So, I’ve put together a fancy running outfit – including Nikes, spandex leggings, a sports top and a tee – which motivate me even more to continue with it. P.S. Wanna get really serious? Download an app on your phone to keep the times, speed and calories.
5. The Single Woman
The Single Woman, as mentioned in an earlier post, is set up by Mandy Hale – a girl who is the voice of so many single women around the world. Whenever I need the advice of a fellow struggler of love I go to her website to find answers to my questions. Answers you often already know in the back of your head, but just need another voice to help you realize. Mandy has now written her first book called ‘Letting Go & Moving On’ which is the perfect book to know when it’s time to tell people, things or situations goodbye.
6. Skirts
Skirts are the perfect way of showing you’re ladylike as it’s the only type of clothing not existent in a male’s version, and since my childhood I haven’t really re-discovered the amazingness of skirts as I have now. They can be classy, sexy ánd comfortable at the same time. Summer is a perfect season to wear them and so I’ve done – neon, floral, print, sheer or maxi skirts have been steadily there in my sunny day-to-day outfits.
7. Greece
Even though Greece hasn’t got the best publicity in the news lately, I found out about a beautiful Greek island called Mykonos. Mykonos has been popular under tourists, and since a while the fashion industry has discovered it as well. The island has a super impressive architecture and seems like such a magical place to be. Its bright and colourful atmosphere would be the perfect getaway of the sometimes pretty dark city life. This surely has to be somewhere in the top of my travel list.
