7 Things I Love This Autumn

And here we are already, it’s half-way through October and my 22nd birthday is almost coming up! That means it’s autumn! I love this season, although it means there are darker times ahead. But nothing beats a day in the woods, picking up some chestnuts and enjoying the last bit of sun rays through the trees. Here’s my top  7 of things that best describe my autumn of this year, I think.

1. Cupcakes
Who doesn’t love cupcakes? I’ve never eaten much cupcakes in my life, until I moved to London and there were basically cupcakes all over the place. By now I am pretty much addicted and just die of happiness whenever I eat one. Making them in your own kitchen is even more fun though, as you’ve done so much effort for the cakes, frosting and decoration and then can it eat ALL by yourself in that big comfy chair next to the heater. Omnomnom.

2. Military Jackets
Fi-nal-ly, I’ve found the perfect green military jacket with fake fur at Zara. Been searching for it for ages and could never really find the right one that also had the right colour. You’ve probably seen some people with those original army patched jackets this summer, but by now most seem to have turned into warm nice hooded coats with a padding that make you look fashionable and ready for winter at the same time!

3. Quote Tattoos
Last year I’ve got my first tattoo ever, which is sheet music for Michael Jackson’s song ‘Will You Be There’ in my neck. Trust me; whenever you get your first tattoo you want another one, and another. So when I moved to London I decided  it was time for another one. The underneath quote is the exact design that I made and got tattooed on my side. Hurts like hell, but so worth it when you take that first look at it. Quotes are great for a tattoo, I chose this one to everlastingly remind myself to not dream my life but live my dream! :)

4. Polaroid
Chances are high you’ll dig up a vintage Polaroid camera in London, as I ran across my Polaroid 1000 at Portobello Road Market last week. (It’s the same one as in the photo.) Happy as I was I bought a super expensive pack of film right away and clicked the fancy red buton, but it seems I need to learn how to take sharp shots with it. Not as easy as it seemed beforehand. Hmm. But it’s amazing to get creative with one of those most wanted camera’s, even if it’s only to look at it on your shelf. Haha.

5. Mads Langer
Mads Langer is a 27 year-old singer/songwriter from Denmark who had his breakthrough last year with a cover of ‘You’re Not Alone’. His album ‘Behold’ came out in May of this year and didn’t get as much attention as I think it deserves. It’s the perfect album for the leafy colourful days of these months where you sob around the streets in your rain boots. Especially the lyrics make so much sense and are not the typical whiny singer/songwriter stuff but actually are very deep and thoughtful. Go get the album if you haven’t yet.

6. Red Lips
Red lipstick rocks every woman’s world. It surely does mine lately, as I can’t seem to stay away from it. Brand or price doesn’t matter, every red lipstick is going to have to be cared for as you will most definitely leave a mark everywhere. But on the other hand…isn’t that the charm of it all? Burning red lips match with almost every outfit, and you’ll be blending in especially in autumn as all the leaves turn red together with you too!

7. Terra Nova
Terra Nova is a brand new TV show of which the first season only started a little while ago. There are 4 episodes out so far, and the geek in me totally loves it. Dinosaurs, time-travelling, a crazy world and a little bit of love here and there is what best describes it. Go see it for yourself to find out what you think of it, but if you’re a little like me – quickly tired of everything that’s normal – you’ll probably gonna be hooked to your TV as well.
